Cordata Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition "A Summer Celebration: Six Women Artists”. The opening will take place on June 7, from 4 -7 PM. The exhibition will run through September 14, 2024.
In "A Summer Celebration" you'll embark on a visual journey through the vibrant brushstrokes and captivating moments that define our local art scene. Each artist featured in this exhibition offers a unique perspective of what they see – each artist drawing inspiration from natural beauty, rich local culture, and their personal experiences.
Carol Hartsock's gestural paintings feature sunsets, tidal waves, and the energy of the summer season, serving as a powerful testament to the beauty and richness of nature. In her own way, whether capturing the vast expanse of landscapes or delving into the realm of abstraction, Diana Grant's art is a harmonious fusion of earthly elements and ethereal beauty.
Joy Olney's sundrenched canvases offer an intimate portrait of people at play. Her art captures not only their physical presence but also their energy and spirit, inviting viewers into a world where color sings and light moves slowly. Lori VanEtta's abstract landscapes enchant the viewer, inviting viewers to look for details beneath the surface. Her multi-layered paintings tell a different story. Through her works, Lori displays her willingness to embrace the unexpected by painting over previous creations and creating a layered narrative of her artistic journey.
Mira Kamada's works serve as a testament to her profound connection to her surroundings, inspired by the tranquil waters of Squalicum Harbor in Bellingham and evoking warm summer nights by the ocean. In contrast, Mary Jo Maute's bolder paintings introduce figurative abstractions that mingle with surrealistic elements from nature that are playful and dreamlike at the same time.
"A Summer Celebration: Six Women Artists” will take you on an exciting journey through different types of art, capturing the spirit of joy and honoring the creativity of our local artist community. We invite you to savor each artwork, to linger over the details, and to discover the wonders that await within these canvases.
